iOS 18 Beta Users Can Add Cards With Just a Tap

No More Manual Entry

Beta testers of iOS 18 can now add new payment cards to their Apple Wallets with just a tap of their iPhone. This new feature, which is part of the latest iOS 18 beta released on Tuesday, eliminates the need for manual entry of card details, making it easier and faster to add new cards. Users can simply tap their iPhone on a compatible payment terminal to add a new card to their Wallet.

Security and Convenience

Apple says the new feature is secure and convenient. When a user taps their iPhone on a payment terminal, the terminal sends an encrypted message to the user's iPhone. The iPhone then uses secure element technology to generate a one-time code that is used to add the card to the user's Wallet. This process ensures that the card details are not shared with the payment terminal or any other third party.

Supported Cards and Devices

The new feature is supported on all iPhones and iPads that are running iOS 18 beta. It works with all major credit and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. To use the feature, users must have the latest version of the Wallet app installed on their device.

Availability

The new feature is currently available to beta testers of iOS 18. It is expected to be released to the public later this year. Apple has not yet announced a specific release date for iOS 18.
